I had my procedure on February 25th. My highest weight was taken at my family doctor’s office about a month before I made my appointment with the Surgical Weight Loss Center. I weighted 381 pounds. My doctor told me I really needed to look at surgery as a solution as he has watched me try several different diets only to gain it back.
I started back on phentremine, a weight loss drug I have used off and on to help control my appetite. It definitely helped, however I would eventually gain the weight back.
I started looking at different gastric surgery options. I have had three friends that had either the Lap-band or the Realize band and their success was amazing. Two of them had lost over 100 plus pounds each and kept it off for three years so far. The third is just a few months into it and is doing great.
After checking out my options, I decided on the Realize Band. I liked the port size and the one size fits all part of it. Two of my friends have the Lap-band so I believe one is probably as good as the other. I chose the Realize band. The Surgical Weight Loss Center offers both options so it wasn’t a problem.
My goal is to lose an average of one and 1/2 pounds a week. I weighted 358 at my first weigh-in at the Surgical Weight Loss Center in January. You will be able to follow my weight loss progress on here through my daily posts.
The surgery, to me, went amazing well.

I saw this blog from Facebook (a friend of mine posted it). After reading it, I then clicked Like and shared it myself.
